Which construction positions are scarcest — right now.
The Construction Position Scarcity Index™ (CPSI™) is the Workforce Intelligence Lab's national read on how scarce every major construction position is. Scored 0–100 where higher means fewer qualified operators are genuinely available. Published quarterly. Designed to be cited.
The CPSI™ is built for decisions, not observation.
Backlog acceptance
Before committing to a project scope, run the CPSI read for the leadership roles it depends on. A commissioning manager score of 95 means you should have a hire plan before you sign.
Compensation calibration
Scarcity score directly predicts comp pressure. Roles above 80 are repricing every 60–90 days. Bands set against 6-month-old data lose offers.
M&A workforce diligence
Before acquiring a contractor, map which of their critical seats carry CPSI scores above 80. Those are the succession risks the deal price should reflect.
Hiring timeline planning
CPSI scores above 85 correspond to fill times exceeding 60 days in most markets. If you need someone in 30 days, the score tells you whether to start a search or plan a backfill.

We'll pull the current scarcity read for the role, the market, and the specialty — and translate it into a timeline and comp recommendation before your search starts.
